Find Out How To Organize Madden 11 Tournaments

Madden NFL has a cult following throughout the globe. It has captured a big chunk of the football video games market. This EA Sports release is awaited eagerly by fans everywhere. Its popularity has encouraged its makers to simultaneously release an adaptation for all the gaming mediums like XBox, Nintendo, Playstation and the PC. Madden 11 tournaments are held all over and fans who take their gaming seriously, participate in large numbers. To host one of these events, these are some of the basics you should know.

Few events offer prizes and rewards to the winner but others are just played for the glory. To host an event for friends, you should probably decide if there is going to be a reward and hence, a participating fee. The events hosted on television offer lump sums of cash as rewards. Only the best players take part in these.

Any competition is credible only if fairness is assured in the proceedings and the selection of the winner. There is not a set a of standardized rules that have to be adhered to. However, most of these events follow more or less the same basic rules. If you are hosting a competition, ensure that it is fair and that all the players stick to the common rules.

The controller and the console are usually provided by the organisers. Under no circumstances are the players supposed to use their own. This is obviously to eliminate chances of tampering. Tampering is dealt with severely in these events, most likely with the player getting booted. All the players are given similar controllers and consoles to ensure fair play.

The presence of a referee is a must to make certain that there is no foul play. They have a bunch of duties. These include supervision of the game, the demeanor of players and also to see if every player complies with the dress code. The referee holds the power to rule on the appropriate moment to pause the play. They should have excellent technical knowledge to spot any tampering or attempts at tampering. Sometimes, the glitches in the game may give some players undue advantage over others. The referee should be able to recognize this and put a stop to this. Any usage of vulgar language is generally frowned upon and also abusing the referee, verbally or physically, can land the player an instant disqualification. When play is on, no interaction with the spectators is allowed. Using a headset, damaging equipment, physical abuse of referee all can land the player penalties. In extreme cases, the player can be booted. You must clearly get the rules across to the players, including the punishment for not sticking to them.

Any attempts to 'fix' the game are dealt with severely by expulsion. Madden 11 tournaments guidelines also depend on the kind of tournament it is. If it is a low profile unofficial game between friends or huge international events, and whether they are played live or online. The rules may also have other stipulations like difficulty, quarter period and speed of the game. Depending on the number of players, the duration of play can vary.

The Curse of the Madden Cover Athlete

The release of Madden 11 will be one of the most hyped and anticipated events in 2010. For more than 20 years, this franchise has been an undeniably big hit. In order to get shots of all the rookies in their new jerseys, the Madden development team shows up to the annual NFL entry draft. The competetive side of the phenomenon has grown too, and now hundreds of pro Madden players make tons of money playing in tournaments. And people are known to come up with every excuse in the book in order to get out of work on the very day the game releases - making it as close to a national holiday as the video game industry is likely to get.

For all the good that comes with the hype and hysteria of Madden NFL, there is a downfall to the game's yearly release. Since Madden gave up the game's cover appearance starting with the 1999 installment for a different annual cover athlete, that player has suffered from poor play or injury, leading to the belief that there is a Madden NFL curse.

The Madden curse made it's mark again in 2009. For the first time in the series' history, two players graced the cover of Madden NFL 10. It's a classic matchup that re-lives the drama of Super Bowl 43; Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals and Troy Polomalu of the championship Steelers. In the Steelers' first regular season game, and Troy Polomalu's first after being put on the cover of Madden 10, he injured his ankle while blocking a field goal. He didn't return.

One would think that everyone in the league would have learned to avoid Madden by now. Players a) don't need the money and b) are quite superstitious in the best of times, so you'd think they'd just decline the offer from EA sports. Whether you're just as superstitious, you can't deny the historical evidence of the Madeen curse's negative impact.

The History of the Madden Curse:

2002: Daunte Culpepper, QB, followed up his 2000 NFC championship appearance by leading his team to a 5-11 season, and missed the final 5 games of the season with an injured knee following his fateful appearance on the cover of Madden 2002: he hsan't recovered yet.

2003: Marking the beginning of the end of the "Greatest Show On Turf", Marshall Faulk of the Rams failed to rush for 1,000 yards in the 2001 season (for the first time since 1996) following his appearance on the cover of Madden 03 and his subsequent nagging ankle injury.

2004: The Falcons finished 5-11 in 2003 when their youg star dual-threat QB missed the entire season due to injury. Guess what? He had been featured on that year's Madden.

2006: Donovan McNabb was featured on the cover of Madden 06, and in week one of the 2005 season, you guessed it, Donovan McNabb suffered a hernia. It plagued ihim all season, and he eventually missed the last 7 games of the season.

That's the history of the curse. So, what will happen to this year's cover star?
