Video Football Games Ascend to New Heights with Xbox Madden 10

You may need a crash course in football video game history, if hearing about all the innovations and improvements that Xbox Madden 10 offers still hasn't moved you. On one hand, it's probably not too cool to say Xbox Madden 10 is great, just because it stands out next to crap from 30 years ago. Then again, those side-by-side comparisons help underscore the fact that Xbox Madden 10 is a truly top-notch football video game. It was inevitable, given the popularity of handheld football games in the B.C. (before consoles) era, that gamers would want a video football game to satisfy their needs. Only problem was, the gamers' ideas on what a great football video game should be, versus the reality of the video game consoles' capabilities, made for a shaky compromise. If you've ever seen old ads for this one, the creators truly believed that it had "all the excitement" of the real deal. The characters on the gridiron are more suited to a sci-fi shooter than a football video game. Rough, but true. The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. Characters started flashing and blinking, thanks to the limited memory of the early game consoles and cartridges. Sound effects didn't fare much better, with the "spectators" sounding more like a car with a busted muffler. Again, things like the scrolling screen wouldn't be a required part of any game for a while yet. However, another participant in video game consoles entered the fray, and their football video game scored a touchdown. A serious effort was made with this next one, in order to give gamers a football video game closer to the real thing. A step in the right direction, but work needed to be done still. Hardcore gamers were pretty excited by that one, as it really heralded the beginning of sports video games - but it was still just an early entry in the field. It would take a few more years before anything like that took place. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. Over the years, this was the yardstick by which all football video games were measured.

It's relatively simple to see why it was such a mega-popular hit - before this, nobody really attempted to make a football video game that was this sophisticated. With the improvements in both the sound and the graphics, gamers saw this as the first and last word in video football games. It's one of the few "old school" games that can still excite today's crop of hardcore gamers. That being said, as much as everyone digs that one, Xbox Madden 10 is in an entirely different league. Hard to believe how much these games have improved since they first came on the scene. Guess it's a waste of time to do too much putting down of the other, less sophisticated football video games. We think you understand. Those games had their weaknesses, but if it weren't for them, we wouldn't be playing Xbox Madden 10 today, so they did get the ball rolling. Xbox Madden 10 is the future of football video games, and the video game community is psyched that the future is looking so bright. The fans aren't the only ones raving about Xbox Madden 10 - the critics have said their piece, and they're into it. "Realistic and enjoyable" are comments you'll see during most Xbox Madden 10 reviews. EA Sports has really concocted a Super Bowl sized hit with Xbox Madden 10, as expected. Don't let the naysayers shape your opinion - Xbox Madden 10 is a game for the ages. Xbox Madden 10 isn't just a great Xbox sports video game - it's an all-around great Xbox video game. Most of the gaming world agrees that this is the new standard by which the rest shall be judged. Better still, the true gamers know that this is the arena which will separate the wheat from the chaff, after you play video games for money. It's a great time to be an Xbox Madden 10 expert - now you can slug it out for some real money. Once you've reached your apex of acumen, you'll be the one scoring big - and filling up your wallet in the process.
